French intelligence agent Theresa Diette (Melanie Laurent) spends her nights flitting amongst Berlin’s bright young things, gathering information and recruiting influential agents. She finally meets her match in the shape of Bern Fleeter (August Diehl), a former soldier. As she works to turn him, her occasional lover Nicholas Reed (James McAvoy) becomes jealous, and sets about conspiring to discredit Theresa’s espionage efforts, and ultimately extinguish her flame forever.
